Brazil reports surge in violent crimes and high-profile arrests

A series of violent incidents and arrests have been reported across Brazil. In Paraíba, authorities arrested Francisco Miguel Neto, a suspect who claimed responsibility for 60 murders across Bahia, Paraíba, and Minas Gerais. He was apprehended in Bom Sucesso following previous investigations into disappearances in Ibotirama.

In São Paulo, a military police officer, Mateus Aureliano da Silva, was arrested after fatally shooting his father-in-law during a physical altercation in Guarulhos. Separately, in São Paulo city, Felipe Donato da Silva surrendered to police after the death of his partner, Erivan Araújo Gonçalves, in an apartment on Rua Augusta.

Domestic violence cases were also prominent, including the arrest of a man in Presidente Prudente for violating protective orders, an incident in Manaus involving an attempted strangulation, and a dispute in Apucarana where a pregnant woman threatened her partner with knives. Other notable crimes include a man in Rio Preto arrested for an attempted stabbing and a suspect in Campos dos Goytacazes who was beaten by local criminals after an alleged attack.

Additional reports include a man in Araçatuba found dead in a public street, a man in Manaus who injured himself while setting fire to his own home, and a man in Mato Grosso who was brutally attacked with stones following a street fight.
