Manaus Pastor Arrested for Alleged Rape of 10‑Year‑Old Girl

A 53‑year‑old pastor was arrested preventively on July 1 in the Santa Etelvina neighbourhood of Manaus, Amazonas, after being accused of sexually abusing a 10‑year‑old girl. Police say the alleged assault occurred while the pastor claimed he was praying to "expel demons" and prevent a change in the child’s sexual orientation.

The investigation began after the child’s father reported the abuse, following the girl’s disclosure to a babysitter. Police authorities conducted a search and seizure at a property linked to the suspect, confiscating two mobile phones that may aid the probe. The pastor now faces charges of rape of a vulnerable minor and remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
