Manaus police arrest Venezuelan man; search continues for missing 20‑year‑old in Amazonas

Police in Manaus arrested a 25‑year‑old Venezuelan after he broke a court‑issued protective order, entered his ex‑partner's home in the Novo Aleixo neighborhood and assaulted her in front of their children. The investigation, led by the Specialized Women’s Crimes Police (DECCM), resulted in a preventive detention order, and the suspect was taken to a police station to face charges of protective‑order violation and assault.

Separately, 20‑year‑old Denilson Estevo has been missing since 29 June after entering a forested area near the community of Guarani in the rural zone of Amaturá, Amazonas. Residents, aided by the local Defesa Civil, have been searching the difficult‑to‑access terrain and have appealed for reinforcement from the Amazonas Military Fire Brigade and the Brazilian Army.
