Manaus water station shutdown to affect East and North zones

The Ponta das Lajes Water Treatment Station in Manaus will undergo a scheduled shutdown on Tuesday, August 18, to prepare for the upcoming dry season. The maintenance, conducted by Águas de Manaus, is scheduled to take place between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The shutdown is expected to interrupt water supplies in neighborhoods within the East and North zones of the city. While the maintenance concludes in the evening, the full recovery of the water supply may take up to 48 hours, meaning some areas could remain without service until the night of Thursday, August 20.

During the maintenance period, more than 21 simultaneous services will be performed, including the installation of new water intake pumps, electrical substation maintenance, and cleaning of the treatment station. To mitigate the impact, the utility company will deploy water trucks to prioritize hospitals, basic health units (UBSs), and schools. Residents are advised to store sufficient water in advance and practice conscious consumption by avoiding activities such as washing clothes or vehicles.
