Manchester United to loan Nigerian‑eligible striker Chido Obi‑Martin
Manchester United are preparing to send 18‑year‑old striker Chido Obi‑Martin on loan this summer, preferring a club in continental Europe where he can gain regular first‑team minutes in a less physically demanding league. The club’s coaching staff believe the forward, who is eligible to represent Nigeria, is not yet ready for consistent Premier League action and would benefit from a tactical environment that supports his development.
Obi‑Martin, who joined United from Arsenal’s academy in late 2024, featured in the Red Devils’ 5‑0 pre‑season win over Rosenborg but was omitted from the subsequent friendly against Atlético Madrid. He faces stiff competition for attacking places from Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, among others, making a loan move a logical step to accelerate his progress.
