Mandalika Circuit hosts security simulation for MotoGP 2026

Indonesian authorities conducted a large-scale security and contingency simulation at the Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok Tengah on September 28, 2026. The exercise, designated as ‘Operasi Mandalika Rinjani 2026’, is part of the preparations for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, scheduled for October 9–11, 2026.

The simulation involved 2,678 personnel from a joint force including the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), local government, and other security partners. The drills focused on various emergency scenarios, such as spectator inspections, VVIP escorts, bomb threat mitigation, handling weapons, fire response, and managing protests.

Specialized units, including the Gegana Brimob Polda NTB bomb disposal team (Jihandak), participated in the drills to test readiness for high-risk situations. Officials stated the operation aims to ensure the safety and comfort of spectators and VVIP guests during the upcoming MotoGP event.
