Mandra-Eidyllia fire victims receive first financial aid payments

The Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has begun distributing the first rounds of financial aid to victims of the fires in the Mandra-Eidyllia municipality. These payments were processed within 20 days of the conclusion of the fire period, a timeline the Ministry described as a “record time.”

Deputy Minister Kostas Katsafados, responsible for State Aid, emphasized that the rapid response was a matter of responsibility toward the affected citizens. He noted that the government aimed to minimize bureaucratic delays by coordinating services and conducting field assessments immediately.

According to ministry sources, inspection teams from the General Directorate for the Restoration of the Effects of Natural Disasters completed the majority of their assessments during the first ten days of August. Katsafados stated that these initial payments are only the beginning of a process that includes ongoing checks to ensure all eligible beneficiaries receive support for the restoration of damaged buildings.
