Manipur CM and BSF Chief review security amid ongoing violence
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Praveen Kumar met in Imphal to review the state’s law and order situation. The discussions focused on security management and preparations for the upcoming BSF Raising Day on December 1. The meeting follows a recent wave of violence, including separate firing incidents in three hill districts that resulted in at least nine deaths last week.
In addition to the high-level meeting, Director General of Police Mukesh Singh visited the Jiribam district to assess security arrangements and rehabilitation efforts.
The state continues to face instability following ethnic clashes between Naga and Kuki-Zo communities, which have killed more than 50 people and destroyed dozens of homes since February. This follows a larger period of conflict between the Meitei community and Kuki-Zo tribes that has resulted in over 300 deaths and the displacement of thousands.
