Manipur: Former CM N Biren Singh condemns Kangpokpi killings
Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condemned the recent brutal killings of two men, Ajinbou Ringkangmai and Dibambou Ringkangmai, in a suspected militant attack at Makui Ashang village in the Kangpokpi district. Visiting the JNIMS Hospital mortuary in Imphal to console the families, Singh stated that violence is not a solution to the state's crisis and urged all communities to prioritize political dialogue.
Singh appealed for communal harmony, emphasizing a shared identity among residents as citizens of both India and Manipur. He also addressed security concerns regarding illegal immigration, reiterating the state government's proposal to the central government for the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He asserted that the NRC would eventually be implemented to identify illegal immigrants and facilitate peaceful coexistence.
