Manipur security forces seize large quantities of narcotics
Security forces in Manipur have conducted two significant narcotics operations resulting in the seizure of various illegal substances and multiple arrests.
In Jiribam, the Assam Rifles Spear Corps, in coordination with the Manipur Police, intercepted a boat to recover 90,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 27 crore and 48 grams of heroin worth roughly Rs 28.80 lakh. Six individuals were apprehended during the pursuit. Officials noted that Yaba, a methamphetamine and caffeine combination, often enters through porous borders and is linked to broader trafficking networks.
In a separate operation in the Senapati District, police arrested two individuals, identified as Sanesh Limbu and Sachin Thapa, during a checking operation at Khongnem Thana village. Authorities recovered 45 kg of suspected opium contained in 46 packets, along with a vehicle and Rs 10,000 in cash. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the contraband and potential accomplices.
