Manisa municipality intensifies mosquito control, flood‑risk cleaning and fire‑relief aid

Manisa Büyükşehir Belediyesi has stepped up vector control efforts this summer, applying larvicides to closed spaces such as underground parking lots, shelters, water‑storage wells and sewer grates across the city. Teams from the Veterinary Services Department reported that locations like Bülent Koşmaz Park and the Republic Square underground garages were treated to curb mosquito breeding after recent rains.

The Manisa Water and Sewerage Administration (MASKİ) is conducting routine cleaning of storm‑water grates in all 17 districts. By removing accumulated mud, leaves and debris, the work aims to keep the drainage system functional and prevent blockages and flash‑flooding during rainy periods.

In Gördes district, a fire destroyed 400 hay bales and 30 sacks of animal feed. Municipal fire crews extinguished the blaze, rescued livestock, and the Rural Services Department provided emergency feed assistance to the affected producer. Mayor Besim Dutlulu emphasized the municipality’s commitment to supporting farmers through the recovery.
