Manisa, Turkey drug crackdown results in 21 imprisonments

Manisa prosecutors ordered a coordinated police operation on 9 June 2026 that targeted the city’s street‑level drug trade. Simultaneous raids in the provincial centre and the districts of Alaşehir and Akhisar detained 24 suspects; after questioning, 21 were sentenced to prison and three were released under judicial control. Authorities seized 3,032 synthetic pills, about 2 kg of bonzai, over half a kilogram of methamphetamine, marijuana, a precision scale and an unlicensed firearm.

In the nearby Kula district, police actions against drugs and wanted individuals led to 18 people being processed, including four who were jailed. The operation uncovered additional quantities of bonzai, cannabis, methamphetamine and other stimulants, and resulted in the arrest of individuals with pending criminal cases. Security patrols around schools, mosques and public buildings were intensified, and several illegal weapons and knives were confiscated.
