Manisa expands drinking‑water drilling and revives treatment plant

The Manisa Water and Sewerage Administration (MASKİ) is carrying out simultaneous drilling at 20 locations across the province with 20 machines to secure additional groundwater for the city’s drinking‑water network. Mayor Besim Dutlulu said the work aims to “ensure a strong infrastructure, uninterrupted drinking water and a future‑oriented Manisa,” while MASKİ’s drinking‑water director Necip Kurtarıcı highlighted the need for responsible water use.

In the Saruhanlı district’s Mütevelli neighbourhood, the previously idle drinking‑water treatment plant was overhauled and its hourly capacity increased from 40 tons to 75 tons. The plant now operates automatically with real‑time monitoring, part of a programme that has revived 16 treatment facilities since March 2025. Officials said the upgrade will provide healthier, safer and continuous water supplies to local residents.
