Manish Tewari demands scrapping of Special Intensive Revision

Congress MP Manish Tewari has called for the cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), alleging that the process has deprived more than 13 crore people of their right to vote. Tewari argued that the number of affected individuals exceeds the total population of many nations and demanded that the electoral roll used during the Lok Sabha election results declaration on June 4, 2024, be restored. He further called for the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha expressed support for opposition protests held at Jantar Mantar regarding the Election Commission’s role in the SIR. Jha stated that the protests represent citizens with concerns about the functioning of democratic institutions, suggesting that decisions are being made by individuals acting under external influence.
