Manizales activates psychosocial support following earthquake
Following an earthquake in Manizales on Monday, August 10, the local government has activated psychosocial support to assist affected communities. The Alcaldía de Manizales and the Secretaría de Salud Pública are providing mental health accompaniment to address emotional reactions such as fear, anxiety, anguish, and uncertainty.
The institutional response is being coordinated with several partners, including the Universidad de Manizales, IPS Plenamente, and the Colegio Colombiano de Psicólogos (COLPSIC). Authorities are encouraging citizens experiencing sleep disturbances, nervousness, or difficulty concentrating to seek professional guidance rather than facing these emotions alone. Support is available via the 123 emergency line, option 3.
