Manizales approves tax relief program for municipal debtors

The Manizales City Council has approved Agreement 095, a temporary program designed to provide tax relief to citizens with outstanding municipal debts. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on households by offering significant discounts on late payment interest.

The relief program follows a progressive schedule: in November 2026, taxpayers can receive a 100% discount on interest. In December, the discount decreases to 90%. The program continues into 2027, offering an 80% discount in January and a 70% discount in February.

Natalia Díaz Jurado, the Secretary of Finance for Manizales, emphasized that the measure is intended to help residents regularize their accounts and protect their assets from the compounding effects of accumulated interest.
