Manizales authorities launch operation after two explosive detonations

Authorities in Manizales have launched a special operation to capture those responsible for two explosive detonations in the city. The first explosion occurred in the Sierra Morena sector on Avenida Colón at 2:33 p.m., and the second took place in the Ondas del Otún sector at approximately 10:15 p.m.

No injuries or fatalities were reported. The blasts caused damage to infrastructure, including a rainwater conduction work and damage to the facades, walls, and windows of more than 10 homes. Officials stated these acts were part of an attempt by illegal armed groups to destabilize public order.

In response, an extraordinary security council was held involving the Mayor of Manizales, Jorge Eduardo Rojas Giraldo, the Metropolitan Police Commander, and the Ayacucho Battalion Commander. More than 200 personnel from the National Police and the Army have been deployed to the streets to maintain security and protect the city.
