Mannheim: Mother left behind by train with two children on board
A woman was left behind by an ICE (Intercity-Express) train at Mannheim Central Station in Germany after stepping onto the platform to smoke during a brief stop. Her two children, an eight-month-old baby and a 13-year-old, remained on board the train as it departed toward Stuttgart.
After realizing the train had left, the mother contacted the Federal Police around 2:00 AM. Authorities immediately notified the train conductor and alerted officers in Stuttgart. Upon the train's arrival at approximately 2:30 AM, Federal Police officers took custody of the children. They were later safely reunited with a relative.
