Manoj Jarange Patil ends hunger strike while maintaining Maratha quota demands

Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil has ended his indefinite hunger strike in Jalna, Maharashtra, after accepting water offered by BJP MLA Prasad Lad. However, Jarange emphasized that ending the immediate fast does not mean withdrawing his demands, stating he will only call off the agitation once the community's requirements are implemented.

A Maharashtra government delegation, including Ministers Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Uday Samant, and Makarand Aaba Patil, met with Jarange to discuss the Maratha community's demands. While the meeting did not result in a complete breakthrough, the government provided several assurances. Minister Vikhe Patil stated that efforts are underway to make Kunbi records available to Gram Panchayats by September 5 and that action will be taken to issue certificates based on the Hyderabad Gazette.

Additional government measures include the appointment of nodal officers in every district to assist with certificate applications and the allocation of 300 crore rupees for the Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation. The government also announced that orders regarding OBC concessions are expected to be issued by September 8.
