As of September 11, Jarange Patil has entered his 14th consecutive day of an indefinite hunger strike in Antarwali Sarati, Jalna district. His protest centers on 15 specific demands related to reservation and improved educational and employment opportunities.

In response to legal challenges regarding the planned demonstration, the Bombay High Court has declined to issue immediate pre-emptive orders to stop Jarange Patil and his supporters from entering Mumbai. A division bench, led by Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi, noted that in a democracy, the ‘right to agitate is a fundamental right’ and questioned the use of prohibitory orders based solely on apprehensions of future disruption. The court has issued notices to both the activist and the Maharashtra state government to seek their responses. Additionally, the bench directed the state administration to clarify its law and order strategy and emphasized that the government must ensure adequate medical assistance is available to Jarange Patil due to his deteriorating health.
