Manoj Sinha flags off Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir
The annual Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra has commenced in Jammu and Kashmir, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagging off the first batch of devotees from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu. The 12-day pilgrimage involves a nearly 230-km journey toward the ancient shrine located in the Mandi tehsil of Poonch district, situated at an altitude of 4,600 feet.
To ensure the safety of the pilgrims, multi-layer security arrangements have been implemented along the Rajouri-Poonch National Highway (NH-144A). Security forces, including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and CISF, are maintaining heightened vigilance through intensified surveillance and monitoring of movement.
The convoy, which includes approximately 42 large buses and other vehicles, has already reached Rajouri under strict security protocols. Local authorities are coordinating traffic management and inter-community efforts to facilitate a smooth journey. The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.
