Conclusion of the Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra
Overview
The annual Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra has concluded in Jammu and Kashmir following a series of religious ceremonies. The pilgrimage, which began with the first batch of devotees being flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu, involved a nearly 230-km journey to the ancient shrine in the Mandi tehsil of Poonch district.
To ensure safety, security forces including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and CISF implemented multi-layer security and intensified surveillance along the Rajouri-Poonch National Highway. The initial convoy, consisting of approximately 42 large buses, traveled under strict protocols to reach Rajouri.
The pilgrimage ended with the Chari Mubarak Yatra in Poonch, where a procession led by Swami Vishavatmanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj traveled 25 kilometers from the Dashnami Akhara Mandir to the Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Shrine in Rajpura. This concluding event included a guard of honor for the holy mace and was attended by officials such as Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary.
In Akhnoor, the final batch of approximately 2,000 devotees was flagged off by BJP J&K President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma. Local leaders described the Yatra as a significant expression of the region’s spiritual heritage and Sanatan traditions. The sacred mace from the Poonch procession was scheduled to remain at the temple for two days before returning for Raksha Bandhan.
