Manuel Adorni granted extension to justify assets in enrichment probe

Judge Ariel Lijo has granted former Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni a 15-day extension to justify his assets following an investigation into alleged illicit enrichment. The request was made by Adorni’s defense, which cited the need to review forensic files, including data extracted from the mobile phone of contractor Matías Tabar.

Prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita is investigating 20 specific inconsistencies in the assets of Adorni and his wife, Bettina Angeletti. The investigation covers the period from December 14, 2023, to June 27, 2026. Key points of concern include a reported discrepancy where family expenses of $272,820,832.20 exceeded reported income of $229,752,283.20, leaving an unexplained difference of approximately $43,068,549.

Additionally, the prosecution is scrutinizing US$402,578.12 in foreign currency movements related to real estate, renovations, and travel. Specific items under review include a US$245,000 cash payment for home remodeling in the Indio Cuá complex, a US$200,000 investment in Bitcoin, the purchase of a Jeep, and loans received from relatives Silvia Pais and Norma Zuccolo. If the provided documentation is deemed insufficient, Adorni may be summoned for a formal indictment.
