Manuel Adorni faces deadline to justify assets in enrichment probe
Manuel Adorni, the former Chief of Cabinet, is facing a deadline to justify his assets to federal authorities as part of an investigation into alleged illicit enrichment. Federal prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita has issued a 20-question questionnaire based on a 207-page technical report from the General Directorate of Economic and Financial Advisory in Investigations (DAFI).
The investigation highlights a significant discrepancy in the finances of Adorni and his wife, Bettina Angeletti, between December 2023 and June 2026. While the couple reported proven income of approximately 229.7 million pesos, their recorded expenses reached roughly 272.8 million pesos, leaving an unexplained gap of over 43 million pesos.
Additionally, authorities are scrutinizing approximately 402,578 US dollars in expenditures related to real estate, luxury furniture, and renovations. Specific points of interest include a 245,000 US dollar cash payment to contractor Matías Tabar, loans from relatives Silvia Pais and Norma Zuccolo, and various transactions involving cryptocurrency and foreign travel. Adorni has been granted extensions by Judge Ariel Lijo to prepare his response.
