Manuel Gavira criticizes Ceuta migrant funding and prisoner transfers

Manuel Gavira, the second Vice President of the Junta de Andalucía, has criticized the decision to transfer 25 million euros to Ceuta to support migrant minors. Gavira stated that if he held the competencies for Social Services, he would have voted against the funding approved during the sectoral conference on Youth and Childhood.

Gavira noted that while most autonomous communities supported the credit, Vox-led regions such as Castilla y León, Aragón, and Extremadura opposed it. He argued that failing to return minors and adults to their countries of origin effectively promotes further migration.

Additionally, Gavira criticized Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez regarding the transfer of prisoners from Ceuta to Algeciras, calling the move a “shame” and arguing that the Spanish penitentiary system should not be used to relocate such individuals to the mainland.
