Manulife expands Microsoft partnership to deploy enterprise AI
Manulife has expanded its partnership with Microsoft through a five-year agreement aimed at accelerating its transformation into an AI-powered organization. As part of this deal, the company will roll out Microsoft 365 Copilot to more than 30,000 employees and implement Microsoft Agent 365 to centralize the governance, monitoring, and security of AI agents across the enterprise.
To support large-scale innovation, Manulife is adopting the Microsoft Frontier Suite. This framework allows data scientists and developers to build and manage AI solutions using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Foundry while adhering to strict quality, security, and cost-efficiency standards. The initiative focuses on integrating responsible AI principles directly into business operations rather than treating oversight as an afterthought.
In the broader landscape of enterprise AI tools, Microsoft 365 Copilot integrates deeply with Microsoft Graph to utilize organizational data like emails, files, and meetings. Meanwhile, Anthropic offers Claude for Microsoft 365, which allows users to work deeply on specific documents within apps like Word and Excel. While distinct, the products overlap; for instance, certain Microsoft 365 Copilot agents utilize Anthropic models to perform tasks.
