Mapfre Foundation advances social projects in Dominican Republic

The head of Fundación Mapfre, Elvira Vega, and the project director, Elena de Borbón, visited the Dominican Republic on 26 June 2026 to review the foundation’s social initiatives. They inspected the road‑safety programme, which since 2012 has reached more than 1.2 million people through educational activities aimed at preventing traffic accidents. They also toured the Fundación Real Madrid sports schools, which have engaged over 3,000 children with sports, tutoring, psychological support and values training, and visited the partnership with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos that provides education, health and nutrition for vulnerable youth. Additional projects highlighted include a 2025 alliance with Fe y Alegría Dominicana to improve inclusive education in seven schools, and the “Controla tu Red” digital‑safety campaign developed with INDOTEL and MINERD that has benefited over 205 000 adolescents and teachers. The foundation’s volunteer programme recorded more than 400 volunteers contributing 2,100 hours of service in 2025, and its social‑innovation awards recognised projects such as Habitat for Humanity’s “100 mil pisos para jugar.”
