Chile and Argentina utilities schedule power cuts and preventive actions amid wind and maintenance work

Chile’s electricity company CGE activated a preventive operation plan ahead of a Puelche wind system expected to affect the lacustrine zone of Araucanía, including Villarrica, Pucón, Curarrehue and Loncoche. The plan deploys more than 130 brigades and over 400 staff, with specialized crews and generators ready to support electro‑dependent customers.

Enel announced scheduled power outages on 1 July for six communes in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, specifying interruption windows for Colina, Lo Barnechea, Vitacura, Las Condes, La Florida and Estación Central.

In Argentina, the cooperative Coopelectric warned of a 1 July electricity shutdown that will halt water‑extraction pumps in four city sectors, potentially causing low water pressure. The provincial utility EPEC listed multiple outages across Córdoba province and Río Cuarto from 1 – 5 July for maintenance, upgrades and load transfers. Following a recent blackout in Mar del Plata, the local power‑workers union criticised the cancellation of the TERCONF project, saying the stalled work threatens the city’s electric supply and calls for renewed investment in the infrastructure.
