María Corina Machado evaluates return to Venezuela for political dialogue

Opposition leader María Corina Machado is evaluating a peaceful return to Venezuela to participate in political negotiations, according to U.S. Senator Rick Scott. Following a telephone conversation between Scott and Machado, the Senator stated that the Nobel Peace Prize winner is prepared to engage in dialogue with current authorities, including interim president Delcy Rodríguez, as well as representatives from the public and private sectors.

Machado expressed her determination to return to the country to work alongside the Venezuelan people toward rebuilding the nation and establishing transparent presidential elections. While U.S. officials have indicated that her return is possible, they noted they cannot guarantee her safety. Machado has remained outside the country since December 2025, having made several unsuccessful attempts to re-enter.

In response, Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello dismissed the opposition's claims of entry barriers as a 'show,' urging Machado to return and account for her actions. Meanwhile, Machado's party, Vente Venezuela, is reorganizing its leadership, highlighted by the recent return of communications chief Claudia Macedo to the country.
