María Corina Machado prepares imminent return to Venezuela

Opposition leader and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado is preparing for an imminent return to Venezuela. Her political movement, Vente Venezuela, reports that legal and diplomatic efforts are being finalized to ensure her safe and legal entry into the country.

Machado has reportedly made at least seven failed attempts to return via air and sea, including three recent attempts from Panama, due to interference from the current administration. She has reaffirmed her commitment to returning to strengthen citizen organization and facilitate a democratic transition.

International figures, including U.S. President Donald Trump, have expressed support for her cause. Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Council has renewed its mission to investigate rights violations in Venezuela for an additional two years, noting that while some detentions have decreased, institutional reforms remain necessary.
