María José Quintanilla addresses criticism during sold-out concert series
Chilean singer María José Quintanilla recently completed a successful three-show run at the Santander Arena with sold-out tickets. During her performance, she was joined on stage by Mon Laferte for a collaborative appearance.
During the concert, Quintanilla addressed themes of female solidarity, stating, “Women are more united than ever. This is what should happen to us. To see a friend shine and have the heart, soul, and spirit proud.” She emphasized that her intention is to share rather than compete with other artists.
These remarks follow recent controversial comments made by influencer and panelist Isidora Gaete, who compared Quintanilla unfavorably to Laferte and suggested the singer needed the Viña del Mar Festival to move beyond performing at “small municipal concerts.”
When questioned about whether her stage comments were a direct response to Gaete, Quintanilla clarified that her message of supporting fellow artists is a genuine sentiment she expresses regularly, regardless of specific circumstances. She stated that she prefers to avoid controversies and focuses solely on her music.
