Maracay-Choroní road temporarily reopened in Venezuela
Authorities in the Girardot municipality have announced the temporary reopening of the road connecting Maracay to the coastal town of Choroní. The route will allow free vehicular traffic from Thursday, October 22, through Sunday, October 25.
This temporary opening coincides with a scheduled pause in road rehabilitation works. During this period, heavy machinery used for asphalt recovery and fault stabilization will be parked alongside the road. Mayor Rafael Morales stated that the ongoing works focus on paving, reinforcement, and the installation of safety barriers to repair damage caused by previous landslides during heavy rains.
To ensure safety, risk management and security agencies will maintain fixed and mobile checkpoints along the route, which passes through Henri Pittier National Park. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution and respect speed limits. Construction and maintenance activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, October 26.
