Divers have recovered the bodies of two Breton fishermen following the shipwreck of the French trawler Maranello off the coast of Plymouth, United Kingdom. The vessel sank on August 29 after issuing a distress call regarding issues with its fishing gear.

According to the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor's office, the wreckage was located earlier in the week. Improved weather conditions allowed divers to carry out the recovery operation on Saturday. The two deceased individuals have been identified as the ship's captain and boatswain.

During the incident, the nearby trawler Stradale managed to rescue three of the five crew members. The investigation, led by the maritime gendarmerie of Brest, has transitioned into an inquiry to determine the exact causes of death.
