Maranhão prosecutors seal sound-system seizures in Operation Rolezinho
The Maranhão Public Prosecutor's Office has begun offering non‑prosecution agreements (ANPP) to participants in Operation Rolezinho. Five agreements have been signed, each obliging suspects to forfeit the illegally equipped car audio systems seized during the operation, with the equipment slated for destruction or recycling.
The operation, launched in April 2026 after residents complained about powerful “paredões” that caused noise pollution and disturbed public peace, resulted in the seizure of eight vehicles fitted with irregular sound systems in the first half of the year. Prosecutor Cláudio Alberto Guimarães explained that the agreements are “preventive, aiming not only to hold offenders accountable but also to permanently remove the equipment used in conduct that harms public order and the community’s quality of life.”
Authorities say inspections will continue throughout the capital São Luís and other strategic areas.
