Marantz unveils Model 70 integrated amp and CD 70 player for entry‑level hi‑fi

Marantz announced on July 16 that it will expand its entry‑level hi‑fi lineup with two new products: the slim‑case CD 70 CD player priced at ¥110,000 and the Model 70 integrated pre‑main amplifier priced at ¥143,000. Both units launch on August 28 in Japan and are offered only in a silver‑gold finish. The CD 70 incorporates a new-generation ESS ES9020Q DAC, discrete analog circuitry, and supports high‑resolution audio via USB, Bluetooth, HDMI ARC and a full range of digital inputs. The Model 70 adds HDMI ARC, Bluetooth transmission, a dedicated phono stage and a refined front‑panel design matching Marantz’s premium range.

A UK‑based review notes the Model 70 is priced at £749 (≈AU$1,600) and moves the line out of the budget bracket, while the CD 70 ships for £499 (≈$750). The reviewer highlights improved build quality, a clearer display and more elegant aesthetics compared with the previous PM6007, but mentions the products will not be available in the United States at launch as Marantz focuses on markets with stronger consumer demand.
