Maratón de la Marina 2026 to Follow Original Route in Progreso, Mexico

The 2026 edition of the Maratón de la Marina will run along the course announced months ago, despite ongoing maintenance work on the bridges that lead to the port of Progreso. Coordination among the Yucatán State Sports Institute (IDEY), the Federal Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), and the Progreso municipal authorities ensures the race proceeds without alteration.

The marathon will start at 4:00 a.m. on Paseo de Montejo, with wheelchair, 42 km, and relay categories, followed by a 21‑km start at 5:30 a.m. from the Komchén bridge and a 5‑km race at 6:20 a.m. from the Meteorite Museum on the Progreso boardwalk, where the finish line and awards will be held. For the first time in its 37‑year history, the event filled all entries, attracting 500 athletes for the 42‑km distance, 260 for relays, 1,100 for the half‑marathon, and 800 for the 5‑km run.

Pre‑event activities include an Expo Maratón at the Ek Balam hall of the Yucatán Convention Center, a social run led by promoter Axel Tuz Carbajal, a yoga class, coffee tasting, and a talk by Olympic runner Juan Luis Barrios Nieves scheduled for Saturday, 6 June, at 10:30 a.m.
