Marcel Camprubí involved in collision with police motorcycle

Spanish cyclist Marcel Camprubí and teammate Thomas Gloag were involved in a collision with a police motorcycle during a descent in the Tre Valli Varesine race. The incident occurred at a roundabout open to traffic while the riders were traveling at approximately 70 km/h.

While the layout of the roundabout allowed some members of the peloton to maneuver around the obstacle, Camprubí and Gloag were unable to avoid the motorcycle. Gloag struck the vehicle with his body, whereas Camprubí primarily impacted with his bicycle. Both riders were able to continue without hospitalization, though Camprubí reported soreness in his neck and upper body.

Reflecting on the danger of the incident, Camprubí stated, “When lives are at stake, we should be a little more cautious,” expressing frustration regarding the safety of such encounters during races.
