Marcha das Onças documentary about Pantanal jaguars to premiere

The nature documentary ‘Marcha das Onças’ is set to premiere at the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival on October 16. As Netflix’s first nature film in Latin America, the production follows a lineage of jaguars in the Mato Grosso Pantanal, specifically within the Encontro das Águas State Park.

Narrated by actress Fernanda Torres, who voices the matriarch jaguar Patrícia, the film tracks the development of her descendants, Marcela and Rio. The documentary was directed by Lawrence Wahba and co-produced by Mike Bueno and Emmanuel Priol.

The film is a contender for the Wildscreen Panda Awards 2026 in the Scripted Narrative Award category, having been selected from 600 productions across 46 countries. It is also in competition for the Golden Panda, often referred to as the ‘Oscar of nature films.’ Winners will be announced in the United Kingdom between October 19 and 22. Following its festival circuit, the film is scheduled for a general release on Netflix in December.
