Marche region develops strategy to boost European cyclotourism

The Marche region in Italy is implementing a strategic initiative to establish itself as a major European destination for cyclotourism. To promote this goal, the Agency for Tourism and Internationalization of Marche (ATIM) has announced its participation in the International Bike Festival 2026, scheduled for September 4–6 at the Misano World Circuit.

In support of this sector, professional training is also underway. The town of Matelica recently served as the site for practical field lessons for a “Cyclotourism Guides” course. This program is promoted by the Marche Region in collaboration with the Italian Cycling Federation. Local officials, including Mayor Denis Cingolani, highlighted that such initiatives aim to promote sustainable, experiential tourism that leverages the region's landscapes, artistic heritage, and existing cycling networks.
