Marche region tourism and economic promotion
Overview
The Marche region of Italy is pursuing various initiatives to promote its regional excellence and expand its tourism sectors internationally.
In August 2026, the Marche Chamber of Commerce launched the ‘Casa Atletica Italiana’ initiative in Birmingham during the European Athletics Championships. This program aimed to showcase regional expertise in sports training, fashion, design, and gastronomy to foster business exchanges between Italian and British operators.
By September 2026, regional efforts shifted toward developing a strategy for European cyclotourism. The Agency for Tourism and Internationalization of Marche (ATIM) participated in the International Bike Festival, while local authorities implemented professional training programs, such as a “Cyclotourism Guides” course in Matelica, to promote sustainable and experiential tourism through the region’s landscapes and cycling networks.
During the same month, Marche representatives showcased the region’s heritage at the National Festival of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy. Strategic projects highlighted include the Strada dei Montefeltro e Malatesta and the new Ciclovia dei Borghi più Belli d’Italia, a 1,100-kilometer cycling route connecting 33 villages across five provinces.
Data from hospitality provider Teloni.eu indicates a 77% growth in the international traveler segment, significantly outperforming the 7.5% average growth reported by Italian agencies. The region is seeing increased foreign interest in historical villas and experiential stays, with wedding services now accounting for approximately 30% of annual bookings.
