Marco Aurélio Cunha hospitalized after São Paulo assault

Marco Aurélio Cunha, a physician and former director of São Paulo Futebol Clube, is currently in intensive care following an assault in São Paulo. The incident occurred on Wednesday night on Avenida Doutor Arnaldo, near the Clínicas Metro station.

While traveling in a taxi, a criminal belonging to the ‘gangue do quebra-vidro’ (window-smashing gang) broke the vehicle's window and snatched the mobile phone from Cunha's hand. In an attempt to recover the device, Cunha pursued the suspect on foot. During the chase, he fell on a staircase, resulting in five fractured ribs, a head injury, and various abrasions.

Cunha remains hospitalized under observation in the ICU. Medical evaluations are ongoing to determine when he may be discharged.
