Marco Rubio Facilitates Israel-Lebanon Framework Agreement Toward Peace

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a trilateral framework agreement signed by Israel’s ambassador Yechiel Leiter and Lebanon’s ambassador Nada Hamadeh. The pact is described as a first step toward ending the months‑long conflict, restoring Lebanese sovereignty, securing a permanent cease‑fire and enabling the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon while seeking the disarmament of Hezbollah.

In parallel, foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council met in Manama with Rubio and issued a joint statement supporting Lebanon’s exclusive authority over its territory, opposing Iranian influence and calling for the disarmament of Hezbollah. Hezbollah has warned of civil war, and Iran’s Quds Force commander has threatened Israel over the situation. The agreement remains a statement of intent pending implementation on the ground.
