Marco Rubio warns of Iran's conventional weapons buildup

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued warnings regarding Iran's military capabilities and strategic intentions. In an interview with Fox News, Rubio claimed that Iran has been attempting to build a massive arsenal of conventional weapons, including drones, rockets, and missiles, to create a defensive shield.

According to Rubio, this conventional buildup is intended to protect Iran from military strikes, providing a window for the country to eventually pursue nuclear weapons. He asserted that the U.S. administration under Donald Trump intervened to prevent Iran from reaching this “immunity threshold,” which he argued would have resulted in a “North Korea in the Middle East.”

Rubio also addressed regional security, stating that any attacks on U.S. interests globally would face consequences. He commented on the status of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that oil flow is returning to pre-conflict levels, and maintained a firm stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities.
