Marco Rubio warns of rising political terrorism at global conference

Rubio argued that Western anti-terrorism doctrines have historically overlooked left-wing extremism, noting that between 1970 and 1980, 93 percent of Western terrorist attacks originated from the extreme left. He highlighted recent increases in left-wing violence in countries such as Germany and Greece, characterizing it as a growing threat to infrastructure and political stability.

In Germany, the CDU parliamentary group in the Thuringian State Parliament is advocating for the increased use of electronic ankle monitors for high-risk individuals. This proposal follows an Islamist terror attack during a Christopher Street Day event in Berlin. CDU representatives, including Andreas Bühl and Jonas Urbach, argued that while technology is not a total solution, the state has a responsibility to use all legally available tools to monitor known extremists and prevent future attacks.
