Marcos Llorente criticizes Spanish Transport Minister after Toledo train crash

Following a severe train collision in Urda, Toledo, Atlético de Madrid footballer Marcos Llorente has publicly criticized Spanish Minister of Transport Óscar Puente. The accident, involving a Renfe AVE and an Iryo train, reportedly resulted in at least 46 deaths and 40 serious injuries, with some carriages falling down an embankment.

In an Instagram story, Llorente accused Puente of prioritizing social media activity over his professional responsibilities. He demanded that the Minister focus on public transport safety, accountability, and seriousness rather than engaging in online debates. Llorente described the Minister's management as a “fucking disaster” and urged him to fulfill his duties regarding public safety.

Professional footballers Thibaut Courtois and Dani Carvajal expressed support for Llorente’s message. Courtois shared the post with applause emojis, while Carvajal also reposted the criticism. The collision has caused the suspension of high-speed rail services between Madrid and Andalusia.
