Marcos Pereda heads opposition list to unseat Nicolás Pino as Sociedad Rural Argentina president
Marcos Pereda, vice‑president of the Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA), launched the “Renovación con Unidad” list, naming producers Carlos Romero Feris and José García Enciso as key candidates. The slate aims to block incumbent president Nicolás Pino from seeking a fourth term and to promote a federal, generational renewal of the organization. Pereda criticized the current leadership, saying the internal conflict “goes beyond a simple power struggle” and that he feels “betrayed” by the isolation he experienced during his first year. He also denounced the recent extension of the electoral process from 15 to 50 days, arguing it favours the incumbent during the Palermo Rural Expo. The opposition’s platform focuses on restoring the National Sheep Board, strengthening technical support for producers, and improving access to financing and genetic improvement programs.
