Margarita Stolbizer challenges Axel Kicillof’s 2027 presidential ambitions

Margarita Stolbizer, leader of the GEN party and former national deputy, has expressed skepticism regarding the 2027 presidential aspirations of Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof. Stolbizer stated that Kicillof “is going nowhere” due to significant internal resistance within the Peronist movement.

Stolbizer identified the lack of support from former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner as a decisive factor, noting that no candidate typically advances in Peronism without her agreement. Additionally, she highlighted opposition from provincial governors who hold substantial political weight. Stolbizer further criticized Kicillof’s personal leadership qualities, suggesting he lacks the charisma and leadership necessary to head a national project.

These criticisms follow recent statements by Kicillof, who signaled his intent to run for the presidency during a federal plenary in Avellaneda, positioning himself as an alternative to the current political model.
