Maria Karystianou alleges organized plot against her political movement

Maria Karystianou, leader of the political movementElpida gia ti Dimokratia’ (Hope for Democracy), has issued several allegations regarding internal instability and external interference. Karystianou claims the movement has been a victim of ‘intellectual theft,’ specifically alleging that elements of her founding declaration were ‘copy-pasted’ into the founding declaration of Alexis Tsipras’s political entity.

Addressing recent departures of party officials, Karystianou denied accusations of a lack of internal democracy or a centralized leadership model. Instead, she alleged an organized plan by certain individuals to seize control or dissolve the movement. She stated she possesses evidence, including messages, to support these claims. Additionally, she accused a former official in Thessaloniki of soliciting 20 euro payments from citizens under her name for political gatherings.

Regarding the party’s future, Karystianou confirmed its intention to participate in upcoming parliamentary elections. She announced that the movement’s core political framework will be presented at the Thessaloniki International Fair, while the detailed program will be released closer to the election period to prevent further ideological appropriation.
