Maria Zakharova blames Barack Obama for Ukraine war

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has accused former US President Barack Obama of being responsible for the current situation in Ukraine. Her comments follow remarks by Obama suggesting that the current US administration is “betraying” Ukrainians.

Zakharova claimed via Telegram that the Obama administration and its subordinates betrayed Ukraine by promising material benefits and privileges from “Western democracy” in exchange for abandoning national interests. She specifically cited the roles of Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden, alleging that US State Department employees organized unconstitutional coups and that Biden pressured the EU to impose anti-Russian sanctions in 2014.
