Maria Zakharova condemns calls to halt Starlink in Ukraine and denounces Ukrainian commander’s anti‑Russian remarks

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized Elon Musk’s suggestion to shut down the Starlink satellite internet service in Ukraine. In a Telegram post she wrote she would “expand the idea and propose canceling Starlink so that people do not die.” Zakharova also quoted Musk’s remark that “I am very annoyed by these seasoned diplomats … they eat fine dinner in fancy places while people die on the front lines … Russia will not retreat.”

The next day Zakharova responded to comments made by Mykhailo Drabati, the newly appointed commander of Ukraine’s armed forces, who described Russian citizens as “a nation that should not exist” and called them “remnants of the Soviet Union.” Zakharova called Drabati’s statements “the face of new Nazism in Kyiv,” emphasizing the perceived hostility toward Russian people.
